DESCRIPTION:The Thai language is a unique language in many ways but also have its cousins in the region countries like Laos\, China\, Northern Myanmar and even in Assam\, India. \nFirst of all\, it is a tonal language and most likely the most tonal language in the world. It is a monosyllabic language and has quite easy grammar. Partly due to the tones the syllables can be short or long. All of which has a logical explanation. \nThe Thai language has been formed by wars\, migrations\, geographical\, and cultural circumstances. Apart from the loanwords the Chinese and Tai language the two languages shares a common origin in Southwest China. \nDuring the introduction to the Thai language\, you will be given the background and historical understanding of the syllables\, tones etc. in a cultural and geographical context. You will be introduced to speaking and hearing the language and how to avoid major mistakes in learning the language. This introduction will help you remember and strengthen your vocabulary in a fun and motivating way. \nThe lecturer Michael Andersen holds B.A. in Southeast Asian realia and Thai linguistics from the University of Copenhagen. \nProgramme \n1800 – 1900 Geographical and cultural settings for the evolution of the Thai Languages and linguistic peculiarities. DESCRIPTION:Members of the Danish – Thai Chamber of Commerce are invited to come and meet with Ambassador-Designate to Thailand Mr. Danny Annan.\nThe newly posted Ambassador-Designate Danny Annan arrived to Thailand to a new busy life in one of worlds most vibrant and fascinating countries in the world. The ambassador has already met with several large Danish companies in Bangkok\, such as Pandora Productions\, Novo Nordisk and Maersk to mention a few. In September the busy schedule is already being filled up and the Chamber has been lucky to obtain a calendar slot from 1830-2000 on the 19 September 2024. \nIn connection with the annual rotation of positions in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark\, Danny Annan has replaced Ambassador Jon Thorgaard in August 2024 as the Head of Mission for the Embassy of Denmark in Thailand covering Cambodia as well. \nDanny Annan graduated with a cand. jur. degree from the University of Copenhagen in 1996. His career in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs started in the ministry the same year\, after which he was deployed as deputy head of mission at the embassy in Damascus\, Syria in 1999 later to be posted in Beirut and New Delhi. And follow the footsteps of Crown Prince Frederik when his majesty went to visit Thailand in 1997 to inspect the Danish founded environmental projects in Khao Yai National Park. During the tour you will be introduced to the amazing biodiversity of the national park and walk short trails to amazing spots. \nAfter the visit on the way back home from on Friendship Highway from Khao Yai there will be a 2-3 hours visit to the Thai – Danish Dairy Farm being guided through the 62 years old farm which where in its early days financed by the Danish government. \nDates: Friday evening 19 – 21 July. \nAccommodation: Riverside Resort & Restaurant Pak Chong. \nEstimated Costs person: 3\,500 THB for two nights.
