DESCRIPTION:Members of the Danish – Thai Chamber of Commerce are invited to come and meet with Ambassador-Designate to Thailand Mr. Danny Annan.\nThe newly posted Ambassador-Designate Danny Annan arrived to Thailand to a new busy life in one of worlds most vibrant and fascinating countries in the world. The ambassador has already met with several large Danish companies in Bangkok\, such as Pandora Productions\, Novo Nordisk and Maersk to mention a few. In September the busy schedule is already being filled up and the Chamber has been lucky to obtain a calendar slot from 1830-2000 on the 19 September 2024. \nIn connection with the annual rotation of positions in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark\, Danny Annan has replaced Ambassador Jon Thorgaard in August 2024 as the Head of Mission for the Embassy of Denmark in Thailand covering Cambodia as well. \nDanny Annan graduated with a cand. jur. degree from the University of Copenhagen in 1996. His career in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs started in the ministry the same year\, after which he was deployed as deputy head of mission at the embassy in Damascus\, Syria in 1999 later to be posted in Beirut and New Delhi. DESCRIPTION:On the 9 May 2024 the delegation of the European Union celebrates ‘Europe Day in Bangkok with representatives of the EU states\, their commerce offices as well as with the Government  of Thailand. \nIt will be 60 years since the Europe Day held on 9 May every year was kicked of celebrating peace and unity in Europe. The date marks the anniversary of the historic ‘ Schuman declaration ‘ that set out his idea for a new form of political cooperation in Europe\, which would make war between Europe’s nations unthinkable. \nThe first recognition of Europe Day was by the Council of Europe\, introduced in 1964. The European Union later started to celebrate its own European Day in commemoration of the 9 May 1950 Schuman Declaration which first proposed the European Coal and Steel Community\, leading it to be referred to by some as “Schuman Day” or “Day of the united Europe”. Both days are celebrated by displaying the Flag of Europe. \nThe Schuman Declaration was made by French Foreign Minister Robert Schuman on May 9\, 1950. In his proposal\, Schuman called for the creation of a European Coal and Steel Community\, which would pool the coal and steel resources of several European countries. This initiative aimed to promote economic cooperation and prevent future conflicts by integrating key industries that had previously been used for military purposes. The idea was to bind European nations together through economic interdependence\, making war between them unthinkable.

DESCRIPTION:Despite the great age of the events of Maka Bucha\, (Buddha was teaching over 2\,500 years ago) this day only became a holiday in Thailand in 1957. Prior to 1957\, the third lunar month was celebrated as a Buddhist Holy Day. \nIn Thailand\, the sale of alcohol is banned on religious holidays. This means bars and clubs are closed for the entire holiday. If Maka Bucha falls on a weekend\, a substitute holiday will be observed on the following Monday.
