Over time the Songkran social aspect has come to be as prominent as its cultural and traditional aspects\, its playful atmosphere is enhanced by the fun-filled “water war”\, and various forms of delightful\, colorful local performances\, music and dances\, entertainment\, demonstrations\, processions\, beauty pageants\, and food fairs. DESCRIPTION:Another day of regal significance is the Chakri Day on April 6. A public holiday in Thailand\, it is officially called the Chakri Memorial Day\, as it is the day to commemorate the founding day of the Chakri Dynasty by King Rama I in 1782\, and to honor the royal lineage with its long tradition of producing the Chakri monarchs all industrious and intent on developing the Kingdom of Siam\, now commonly known as Thailand. The now ruling King Bhumibol or King Rama IX belongs to the Royal House of Chakri; he is the ninth king. \nThe activities of the day are mainly official ones\, centered on the ceremonies dedicated to King Rama I in particular\, as he was the first ruler and founder of the city of Bangkok\, or Krung Thep (the City of Angels). King Rama I had been a military commander before he agreed to rule following a political turmoil. So he reigned as King Rama I from April 1\, 1782 onward. In the same year\, for militarily strategic purposes\, he established a new capital on the east bank of the Chao Phraya River\, at the area which is now the Grand Palace. The occasion also marked the beginning of the new Rattanakosin Era with Bangkok as its capital city. The city has flourished since then. Almost 30 years ago it celebrated its bi-centennial anniversary. Bangkok also has become an important hub city in Southeast Asia. \nOn Chakri Day a royal ceremony is performed by the King and members of the Royal Family to pay homage to King Rama I and the other previous monarchs who each played important roles and helped shape the country. More ceremonies take place at King Rama I Statue at the Memorial Bridge\, the first bridge connecting Bangkok to the Thonburi side on the west bank of the river.

DESCRIPTION:DTCC is pleased to announce that Falck Global Assistance is facilitating a company visit to Don Muang Airport where we will visit Medical Wings and MJETS\, who will show us their hangars and air ambulances\, which Falck uses to transport patients in urgent need of traveling far for medical needs. \nMedical wings offer “bed-to-bed” transfers for all types of persons and age groups experiencing severe medical conditions. In 2018 Medical wings achieved full accreditation for international fixed wings and medical escort services from CAMTS and CAMTS GLOBAL and became the first operator worldwide to achieve CAMTS’ ‘Dual Accreditation’. \nMJETS was created in the ’90s and has risen onwards and upwards\, expanding its fleet\, establishing the first and only private jet terminal and Fixed Base Operation (FBO) facility in Thailand. Today they offer 24/7 air ambulance services and a world-class ‘bed-to-bed’ service throughout Asia. \nDuring our visit\, Medical Wings and MJETS will educate us about their services\, show us the aircraft that they use\, and talk about their cooperation with Falck Global Assistance. The late King took the throne in 1946\, reigned for 70 years\, and came to be called “Father of the Nation”. After a long struggle with illness\, the king finally passed away\, at the age of 88.
