Dear members and friends,
The Danish-Thai Chamber of Commerce would like to encourage to participate a book talk by Dr. Brian Wong on Artificial Intelligence in our world. In his upcoming book on the geopolitics of AI, Dr. Wong and his co-author Dr. Boris Babic discuss how AI should no longer be viewed as just a passive tool in geopolitical analysis but a precursor to possible paradigm shifts in how we conceptualise the competition and cooperation among global powers – large and small. Beyond the benefits and opportunities for economies and regulatory and governance frameworks, AI’s rise and recent developments unleashes a range of technological risks that interact with geopolitical risks, leading to dangerous rivalries between powerful states and non-state actors, the breakdown of global governance and cooperation over AI, and the fundamental weakening of the sovereign rights of collective peoples to self-determination under the rise of powerful tech firms and often opaque algorithms.
The complexity and proliferation of these risks is intertwined with the nature of AI vis-a-vis other technologies, posing challenges to non-state actors and how they should aim to shape the emerging geopolitical landscape. Dr. Wong’s book talk will unpack this complex set of questions and issues. If you are interested in AI and Geopolitics, this is a worthwhile seminar in a “fireside chat” format.
Please note that this event is an in-person, onsite forum. For more details, kindly refer to the agenda. Parking is available in the public parking building near the Faculty of Political Science Entrance Gate on Henri Dunant Road, which very small fee.
