On February 5, 2026, Danes and their families once again gathered at the Danish Embassy in Bangkok to listen to Danes Worldwide and DTCC, who provided updates and the latest news on rules and legislation from Denmark relevant to Danes living abroad.
The information evening was organized in collaboration between Danes Worldwide, the Danish Embassy, and the Danish–Thai Chamber of Commerce. Ambassador Danny Annan, Maria Pilgaard (DW), Michael Andersen (DTCC) and the Chairman of the Danish Church Council gave a short presentation and its work here in Thailand.
Although the topics discussed were more or less the same as last year, there were important updates on issues such as state pension, driver’s licenses, family relocation, as well as schooling abroad and in Denmark.
The Thai driver’s license has now been tested with the police and various rental companies, and it is therefore a fact that one can drive in Denmark with a Thai driver’s license for up to 6 months.
The Danish–Thai Chamber of Commerce, in cooperation with Danes Worldwide, has ensured that the correct (though not encouraging) deadlines for applying for state pensions, etc., are now published in table form on Udbetaling Danmark’s website. In any case, apply well in advance!
This year, pensioners will be able to benefit from the new food package of 2026, which pensioners abroad will also be eligible to receive. It is estimated that there are about 50,000 Danish pensioners living abroad.
The delicious open-faced sandwiches were provided by Stable Lodge Restaurant, and without Pandora Production as the main sponsor, there would not have been drinks and sweets for the many participants. Both attendees and speakers hereby thank Pandora Production for the generous sponsorship.
