It was a great and enlightening experience to listen to Vice-President Lars R. Nielsen’s detailed and engaging introduction, which was clearly reflected during the presentations on the background of the Pandora factory in Lamphun, its layout, and its management. The participants and the chamber were very impressed and thoroughly enjoyed the guided tour, during which many questions were answered. A heartfelt thank you to Lars for his impressive and enthusiastic welcome at the factory.
After a delicious lunch at Restaurant Norden, Managing Director Mark Robinson and Jens Glasgow welcomed us to the Georg Jensen Factory in Chiang Mai, where the DTCC guests were introduced to the history and set-up of the Fiskars Group, including the Georg Jensen facility. All stages of production—from design to the creation of high-quality handcrafted products—were presented during the guided tour, which concluded with a delightful snack table before we continued to the next DTCC member, FP Productions, located nearby. FP Productions is a workshop-sized manufacturing facility dedicated solely to producing silver jewellery by order and special design requests. The members greatly appreciated the presentation given by Ben Carl Gordon, Factory Manager for Thailand, who answered many questions with expertise.
On 24 January, the participants also visited the workshop and jewellery shop Boggy & Tholl, managed by Danish Maiken Hjulgaard. The shop showcased many specially designed silverwares available for sale, and it was possible to observe the workshop where craftsmen were busy with repairs or creating new designs. The hospitality and welcome were warm and heartfelt, with discussions and questions continuing for a couple of hours, including the purchase of jewellery by interested guests.
All DTCC participants appreciated the warm atmosphere, where the staff made everyone feel welcome with coffee and cheese snacks.
