Thailand’s Employee Welfare Fund (EWF) is set to commence on 1 January 2027, marking a significant development in the country’s employee protection framework.
With the implementing Royal Decree and Ministerial Regulations published in the Royal Gazette Win September 2025, employers now have a clear legal basis to prepare for the new requirements, with no further postponement. From 1 January 2027, employers with 10 or more employees will generally be required to participate in the Fund, including making contributions alongside employees and complying with registration, reporting, and remittance obligations. As implementation approaches, employers should review their HR and payroll processes and take proactive steps to ensure compliance with Thailand’s evolving employment regulations.
