As a follow up on the successful Nordic Seaboard Event May and the new DTCC board set-up with four regional Vice-Presidents the chamber carried out membership consultations in the Eastern Seaboard area 15 – 16 August 2019 in order to improve the chamber services for members in that the area. The Team comprised VP Torben Zoffmann Wendelboe and CEO Michael Andersen. The DTCC team met with 9 companies including non-members as well.

The chamber also met with the Laem Chabang company lunch group comprising Danish companies from the industrial zones that meet on a regular basis to exchange experiences on running a company in Thailand. The chamber is grateful for getting the opportunity to meet with Finn Sørensen – Caretex Asia Ltd., Frank D. Henriksen and Karsten Brammer – DanThai Machinery Co. Ltd., Michael Jørgensen – Vestergaard Company Ltd., Lars Rosenbæk Lilleøre – Viking Life-Saving Equipment (Thailand Ltd.), and Bjørn Hansen – Euro Star-Tech Co. Ltd., ETK EMS Asia Productions during one of their lunch meetings.

Later the Chamber President Peter Waagensen, B&O Thailand, joined the mission for a sunset meeting at the Jomtien Boathouse. This time it was not possible to meet with all members in the Eastern Seaboard area, but there will be another consultation round in the autumn, where we will visit more Members/Non-Members.

An overall theme for the consultations was to learn how the member saw the strategic direction for the chamber. There was heard a general desire for more events and activities in the Eastern Seaboard as it is quite time consuming to go to the DTCC events in Bangkok.

From several companies, it appeared that they would like to see the focus on concrete services, advice, and assistance in relation to authorities (tax, custom, immigration, and labor) as the core activities. Events should be content relevant with focus on challenges that the companies face in their day to day work and facilitate networking. Most companies interviewed would be happy to assist newly arrived SME with advice to settle in Thailand.
