Allop Chayinthu, President of the Suvarnabhumi Taxi Coordination Association, said on Thursday (March 19) that taxis at Suvarnabhumi Airport particularly large SUV and van-type vehicles have gradually begun suspending services due to fuel shortages.

Drivers are concerned about running out of fuel during long-distance trips and being unable to refill, which has reduced the number of available taxis. Of the 5,000–6,000 registered taxis, only around 2,500 are currently in service.

Some drivers have stopped operating, while others have adjusted their working hours or limited services to short-distance routes due to difficulty accessing fuel, especially in the evening.

The association plans to submit proposals to the government for assistance, including a request to shift from a meter-based fare system to an app-based fare calculation system.
