The Danish Church in Thailand officially inaugurated a new and much larger ‘office’ on Saturday 27 April 2024 where the Danish Ambassador Jon Thorgaard cut the opening ribbon together with Pastor Christa Lund.

The new Danish Church House is a highly needed change from a small office hosted at the Church of Thailand in the Ratchathewi area. With plenty of space people can now gather for meetings and ceremonies at the new house which is situated close to Phloenchit BTS.

The invited guests were present from churches from Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Germany, alongside with other representatives from the Danish community in Thailand. The Danish – Thai Chamber of Commerce was represented by Martin Kyhn, Vice-Chair of the Chamber.

The relocation of the office was only made possible with funding from an extraordinary parliament allocation (Finanslov 2023) for global diakoni purposes to the Danish Seaman Church, of which the Danish Church Thailand received a part, in order to be able to start up with a proper Danish Church House. The funds are for a limited period though after which the church will have to raise further funding for itself.

Pastor Christa Lund will be returning to Denmark in 2024 after 7 years’ service in Thailand.

The chamber congratulates the Danish Church Thailand with the new premises!
