Overwhelming Interest for Joint Information Meeting for Danes Living Abroad held arranged by Danes Worldwide and the Danish-Thai Chamber of Commerce
Almost 60 Danes and spouses attended the information meeting, arranged by the Danes Worldwide, DTCC and the Embassy of Denmark, filling the meeting room at the Embassy Residence up to its maximum capacity. The meeting was moderated by Marianne Kruger and Ambassador Jon Thorgaard opened the meeting with a welcome speech which included consular issues hereunder staff changes for the visa section. Danes Worldwide Headquarter presented valuable information and updates on a number of legal issues for expats online from Copenhagen.
Secretary General Michael Andersen, DTCC, informed the participants of facts and experiences from members regarding driving license, Danish banks and discrimination of Danes living outside the EU and emphasised the importance of keeping the Danish citizen registration canter (Folkeregisteret) informed of address changes while living abroad and how to obtain a certificate in English with the new address. The chamber also presented a survey and the resulting positive and negative list, a table of banks in Denmark giving people a choice of choosing the right bank when living abroad.
DWW Secretary General Michael Bach Petersen and Law Counsellor Lisbeth Kjaergaard were online and gave two very informative presentations of core issues and the legal consequences for family unification, retaining Danish citizenship for children and adults. All information was presented in a clear and systematic way. Many informative inputs were given by the experienced participants and a great deal of information were exchanged between the participants and commented on by DWW.
Many questions were asked on all issues and the debate were lively during the break during which the Danish light food was delivered by Conrads Deli sponsored by Pandora Productions. Coffee and Tea were provided for by the Embassy of Denmark.
