The Kasikorn Research Center expects that the worldwide economic downslide combined with a strong Thai baht will continue to affect spending in Thailand by both tourists and locals and 2019 already show a significant lower income generation than in 2018.
Nevertheless tourism is expected to generate 82 billion THB in revenue from 28 December 2019 to 5 January 2020 of which the foreign tourist will spend 54 billion THB. In 2020 the tourism sector in Thailand will face increasing competition from the neighbouring countries.
