Neighboring countries of Thailand has recently experienced cases of the deadly disease African Swine Fever among their population of pigs. Last August it was detected in China, where it wiped out 40% of the pigs in the World’s largest pork producer. Thus, Thailand has been on high alert to prevent the fever from spreading to Thai pigs. This was exemplified when 200 pigs at two Thai farms 20km from the Myanmar border were culled due to the sudden death of 2 pigs within the radius of 1km.
